This is so late and I'm so sorry - so if you haven't already hit the store to see what's new - here's your review! not a lot of releases this week.
Baby Bash - Cyclone
Hip Hop / Latin / R&B
What it do, Shorta? All I can think about when I hear this is Natasha from ANTM... What it DO _ Shortayyyyy in a russian accent. Oh yeah... I was supposed to be evaluating this music. Hello, Studio 54 Vegas. Sami's on a platform doing the robot - bitches.
Jimmy Eat World - Chase the Light
Rock / Alternative
I have only heard a few tracks. I love love LOVED The Self Titled Album... like - every track was Bam - AWESOME. Bam. AWESOME! Didn't latch on to Futures... maybe it's because it was when I saw them live and holy CRAP they put on a great show (even when you're standing next to your best friend who you're completely not talking to hahaha). So let me rely on a friend who bought the album today and said it was Ok - but nothing special.... I"m guessing it grows on you the more you play it...
R.E.M. - R.E.M. Live CD/DVD
Alternative / Rock
Ok. This one's self explanitory - if you love REM... and you have seen them live. You will love this album. Kind of like a logic problem. If, and if, then this.
Nicole Scherzinger - Her Name Is Nicole (Pussycat Dolls lead singer)
R&B / Pop / Hip Hop
Hmm... Can you say Beyonce Meets Tony Braxton...? Nicole is super hot gorgeous. You have to be to be a pussy cat, right? I'm not sure how her solo project is going to fare... but 'm sure her hotness won't hurt.
Soulsavers - It's Not How Far You Fall, It's the Way You Land
Alternative / Electronica / Soul
Dark and Moody... Kind of reminds me of music from Snatch... Kingdoms of Rain reminds me of Johnny Cash Tone. Not sure why. I think if you like Mezzanine or Massive Attack - you'll like these guys.
Thrice - The Alchemy Index: Vols. I & II - Fire & Water
Rock / Experimental
Vast meets Stabbing Westword meets electronica. Heavy and Dark. Do you know the muffin man? The Muffin Man? The Muffin Man? Do you know the muffin man? He lives on Drury Lane -- nextdoor to Thrice. :) I actually really like this for Hard Rock... My inner bad girl doesn't rock out to this kind of music very often - but I'd definately rock it if
Underworld - Oblivion with Bells
Electronica / Experimental / Ambient
I don't like electronica.
Dan Wilson - Free Life
Rock / Folk Rock
Ok... I'm so lazy - but is this the lead singer from Semisonic? Because He sounds EXACTLY Like him... Ok. Yep. Unmistakable voice... mixed with that sort of sound but a little more singer/songwritery. Lots of Piano. I kind of dig it :) (are you tiring of my half-assed opinions? I do and do not!)
Neil Young - Chrome Dreams II
Rock
Oh, Neil Young. NEIL YOUNG! ahahha... i've never been a fan (sorry) - but i'm also not over 40 either ;)
